Explore and experiment with the alchemy and mysteries of yoga practice, myth, meditation & breathwork as we endeavour to thrive with a connection to community and to our soul.

Shelley's Hatha-Vinyasa classes build playful awareness, strength & balance.

Biomechanics. mythical story-weaving, multidimensional & practical knowledge for meeting you where you are at.

Anyone is welcome and as I teach on this land, I acknowledge and respect that we gather on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish People, Musqueam, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.

The meeting of body and spirit bring an act of joyous recognition (joy in Sanskrit: hasya). The act of ‘coming-into-union’ is of essence in our experience of one of the most important asana’ Savasana (Sanskrit for: corpse). Within this chamber, symbolically corpse pose is used to shape our shadow side and make it useful; the surrender, the sacrifice, the crucifixion, the suffering, the fear, the insecurity…to name a few, that may be offered on the altar of absorption.

In the spirit of ‘letting go to rest’ this fragrance invites the spirit, the light side into the body that has died. A creative union with the ecstasy, self-love, security, fearlessness, ignites the resurrection which brings a re-emergence of com-passion (in Sanskrit: karuna).

Saturday’s asana shape-shifts into many poses to lay upon the paradox. Sunday plays upon the precipice of paradox by using the ash of savasana to resurrect its very opposite – flight - into various inversions and arm-balances. On the mat as in our lives, we will enjoy an important play between security and insecurity, touching upon the vital passion where spirit enters – communion - reciprocity – in the body - bringing with it an act of joyous recognition, hasya.

“Without paradox, there is no passion. Without the play between security and insecurity there can be no real passion. If we concretise romance to the point at which no insecurity is left, then we kill all possibility of passion.”
